The Short Answer

Clean your Puffco Peak Pro chamber with a dry cotton swab after every hit while it is still warm. Once a week, soak the atomizer in 99% isopropyl alcohol for 20 minutes and clean the glass separately. If you see dark buildup that won't wipe away, use Dark Crystal Clear or a longer ISO soak. Regular cleaning keeps your dab temperatures accurate and ensures your live rosin tastes fresh. The less you let carbon build up, the better your device will perform over time.

What You Need

  • 99% isopropyl alcohol (ISO). 91% works, but leaves more water behind. Never use 70%.
  • Dark Crystal Clear for stubborn carbon buildup (chazz). This is much more effective than alcohol for baked-on stains.
  • Pointed cotton swabs. These reach the corners of the chamber better than round ones.
  • Paper towels for drying.
  • Coarse salt to help scrub the glass piece.
  • A small glass jar or ziplock bag for soaking parts.

After Every Dab: The Swab Routine

This is the most important habit for any Peak Pro owner. Right after your hit, take a dry cotton swab and wipe the inside of the chamber. Rotate it to soak up all the leftover oil. If the swab comes out very dark, use a second one with a tiny drop of ISO.

You want to remove the liquid oil before it cools down and hardens. Warm oil wipes away easily. If you leave it and heat the chamber again, that oil burns onto the ceramic and creates "chazz." This dark layer ruins the flavor and makes the heater work harder. Swabbing takes ten seconds and keeps the device tasting like new for hundreds of sessions.

Weekly Cleaning: ISO Soak and Glass

Once a week, or every 20 dabs, do a deeper cleaning of the atomizer and glass.

The Atomizer

Unscrew the atomizer from the base and remove the tethered cap. Place it in a small jar of 99% ISO and let it soak for 20 to 30 minutes. After the soak, wipe the inside with a cotton swab to remove any loose bits. Rinse it with a little fresh ISO and let it air dry for at least 30 minutes. Do not use water on the atomizer. If it's still wet with alcohol when you fire it up, it will taste harsh and could damage the heater.

The Glass

Pull the glass attachment off the base. Pour in some ISO and a spoonful of coarse salt. Cover the holes and shake it for a minute. The salt scrubs the inside where you can't reach. For very dirty glass, let it soak in ISO overnight. Rinse it thoroughly with warm water and let it dry completely before putting it back on the base. While the parts are drying, wipe the connection pins on the base with an ISO-dampened swab to keep the electrical contact clean.

Deep Cleaning for Stubborn Stains

If your chamber has black spots that ISO won't touch, use Dark Crystal Clear. This cleaner is non-toxic and works better than alcohol on carbon buildup. Heat a small amount of the liquid in the microwave for 15 seconds, then soak your atomizer in it for 20 minutes. Most stains will dissolve immediately. Wipe it out and then rinse with ISO to remove the cleaner residue.

You should also clean under the silicone gasket once in a while. Even if you swab every time, oil can seep into the gaps over time. Carefully lift the silicone and wipe the hidden areas with ISO. This prevents the device from smelling like old oil and keeps the airflow open. While you have it apart, check the ceramic for tiny cracks. If you see deep cracks, it might be time to replace the chamber.

What Never to Do

  • Never get the base wet. It contains the battery and electronics. Water will kill it.
  • Never use tap water in the atomizer. It leaves minerals that will bake onto the heater.
  • Never use metal tools to scrape the chamber. You will scratch or crack the ceramic.
  • Never use 70% alcohol. The water content is too high for the electronics in the atomizer.
  • Never fire the device if the atomizer is wet.
