One more Ziki morning
I’m not a ganjier. I’m an average joe with a few decades of smoke under my belt, and the useful question when a jar runs out is still: would I buy it again? By the time I finished this Zikigai, I’d already answered it.
This was my second Zikigai Gardens jar in a couple of months, or the third if I counted the Elusive LA collaboration. I’d repeat the purchase again.
I found myself slowing down through the last smoke, deliberately savoring it and feeling a little sorry with each puff that I was getting closer to the end. Lovely expression of Z, proper cure, smooth smoke. My original score was 8.6/10.
I was planning to try another Z for comparison, but that hadn’t happened when I wrote the note. This review is about the Zikigai I finished, not the results of a tasting I hadn’t done yet.
A little more context
Letmeseewhatusmokin’s 2024 review of Raw Genetics’ Zikigai also emphasizes a recognizable Z character, with fruit and fresh-linen aroma references and a flavor the reviewer finds distinct from Original Z. That’s a useful neighboring impression, not proof that we had the same crop. [Z1]
That review labels the lineage Bx2 at the top but calls it Bx1 in the body. I’m leaving the backcross generation unresolved rather than choosing the version that makes a tidier pedigree. My reasons for buying again don’t depend on it. [Z1]
The 8.6/10 is the personal score in my original post, not a new scoring system or an average of other reviews.

The main review comes from my own posts and follow-up notes. Outside descriptions stay in the separately labeled section above; they aren’t additional tasting notes from me.

Outside reading
- [Z1] Zikigai — Raw Genetics
Same named cultivar and Raw Genetics association; batch not matched.
The review includes supplier acknowledgments, but no clear payment/gift disclosure was captured. Its Bx1/Bx2 claims conflict internally.
Outside reading checked in October 2026. Individual reviews are anecdotal; neither a shared strain name nor a shared producer proves a matching batch. No outside photography is reused.
