The jar

This is a 2-gram jar of Wally Farms rosin, a cross of Grease Fire and Banana Cane. I bought it at Verified Wave for $100 on the same trip as two Southern Press jars, the Gary Payton and the Mangosteen. The lid has Wally’s cartoon dog; the label gives the cross, 90–149u, 2g and @wallyfarms_.

The label doesn’t say whether it’s live rosin or cold cure, so I’m calling it rosin. The 90–149u is the micron range the hash was collected between before pressing. It’s a slightly narrower band than the Southern Press jars’ 149–70u, which also takes in the 70–90u grade. That tells you which part of the wash went in, not how good the jar is (how to read hash grades).

Wally being Wally

I love Wally. They’re very consistent, and this jar was solid, right in line with what I expect from them. It photographed creamy and golden, and nothing about it made me second-guess the brand.

A quieter flavor

The taste wasn’t really that strong, but it wasn’t bad. It’s the one place this jar didn’t stand out. Next to the Payton, which tasted exactly like its name, the flavor here sat in the background.

Where it earns its spot: the high

The effects are why I’d tell someone to buy this jar. Relaxed in the body, clear in the head, and in a genuinely good mood: happy and uplifted rather than sleepy or foggy. The kind of high that makes an afternoon better without taking it over.

Three jars, one trip

All three jars from that Verified Wave run cost $100 for two grams, $50 a gram. Each one stood out for something different: the Payton for tasting exactly like Payton, the Mangosteen for its rotten-mango nose, and this Wally for the high. If flavor is your priority, start with the Payton. If you want the best feeling of the three, this is the one.

Yeah, I’d buy Wally again.

A little more context

Grease Fire is a cut-only strain from a Symbiotic Genetics and Lokey Farms collaboration. Leaf Magazine traces it to Grease Bucket #11, the “Plumber’s Cut” (GMO × Banana Punch #9), crossed with Gassy Taffy (a Gorilla Breath cut called GB6 × Hylife). The #6 cut was selected by the hash maker Pure Melt, and Leaf calls it a “nostril-flaring bucket burner,” with Pure Melt describing “super intense gas with the slightest hint of sweetness.” [WF01] That profile describes an Oregon grower’s run of Grease Fire, not Wally’s cross.

Banana Cane is most likely Bananacane from In House Genetics, which SeedFinder lists as Bluenana (Blue Sherbert × Banana OG) × Slurricane #23, an indica-leaning hybrid. [WF02] The label doesn’t confirm the breeder, so treat that match as likely, not certain.

On paper, then, this is gas crossed with banana, and both sides carry banana in their background. Going by Leaf’s description of Grease Fire, you might expect a loud, fuel-heavy jar. Mine was mild on flavor. The cut, the grow, the wash and the press all change what ends up in the jar, so the lineage is a guide, not a promise.

There’s not much published about Wally Farms itself. Verified Wave carries other Wally rosin, including 2g cold cure live rosin jars of Grape Gas and Z Cubed. [WF03] I didn’t find an outside review of this cross, and no source I found describes its effects. The high described above is mine.

One jar from one batch. Effects are personal and potency wasn’t tested. Tax wasn’t recorded separately from the $100 total. The label doesn’t specify live rosin or cold cure.
