The jar

This is a gram of air-dried Chem D hash from PUA Extractions. I bought it at Puffcon for $90. The lid carries the PUA Extractions logo, and the only other label is printed on the bottom of the jar: Chem D, 90u.

That 90u means the hash was collected on a single 90-micron screen rather than across a range of bags. It tells you which part of the wash went into the jar, not how good the jar is (how to read hash grades).

God, what a pleasure

This hash was a fucking pleasure. It was remarkably stable at room temperature, though it did still grease up over time. In the photos it’s loose and sandy, a light tan.

And it melts so well. Super clean, super squishy.

Classic Chemdawg funk, loud fuel

The smell is classic Chemdawg funk, and the taste is super loud fuel. That Chem was amazing.

It hits hard

This one hits hard. It had me on the couch. That makes it the heaviest high of the recent jars on this site: the Gary Payton and Mangosteen were solid without couchlock, and the Wally kept my head clear.

Two PUA grams

This is my second PUA review. The first was the Diesel, also air-dried, also $90 for the gram, and also incredible: I described it as like sucking on a tractor exhaust pipe. Both were stable at room temperature. The Diesel greased up as soon as it got a little warm pressure; this one greased up over time.

At $90, it cost almost twice as much per gram as the Southern Press and Wally jars on this site, which were $50 a gram. It was worth it.

Would I buy it again? Yes.

OUTSIDE READING · NOT MY TASTING NOTES

A little more context

Chem D belongs to the Chemdog family, one of the most influential lines in cannabis. Fat Nugs traces the line to 1991, when Greg “Chemdog” Krzanowski found 13 seeds at the bottom of a bag, planted four, lost one to a male and kept three females. The article names those three as Chemdog (now Chemdog ’91), Chemdog A (now Chem’s Sister) and Chemdog B, and describes the “chemmy” taste that today reads as “diesel” or “gassy.” [CD01] It doesn’t mention Chem D at all, and other sources tell D’s origin differently, so its exact history is murkier than its reputation.

Chem D does have a reputation among hash makers. A July 2026 Leaf Magazine piece on micron ranges notes that “some selections, like Chem D, Death Coast and GMO, produce bigger heads on average.” The same piece quotes Camden of Pua Extractions, who also processes for Nelson and Company: “Usually 70u to 159u is the common thing, and the prime stuff is from 90u to 159u.” [CD02] My jar is a single 90u pull, inside the range Camden calls prime. That’s his general rule of thumb, not a statement about this batch.

PUA has been around for a while. The Hashish Inn interviewed Camden in 2019 and lists PUA Extractions in Portland, Oregon. [CD03] Leaf’s recap of Ego Clash 2022 records fifth place for Pua Extractions’ Mt. Hood Magic NL. [CD04] That recognition belongs to a different cultivar, not this Chem D.

I didn’t find an outside review of PUA’s Chem D. The funk, the fuel and the couch above are mine.

One jar from one batch. Effects are personal and potency wasn’t tested. Tax wasn’t recorded separately from the $90 total, and the purchase date wasn’t recorded; the photos are from October 3, 2026.
